Hound Breeds

I’d like to thank the committee for inviting me to judgeat the 25th Anniversary show. My thanks also to my very capable and efficient stewards, and to the exhibitors who entered. As usual, this show fails to disappoint. The flowers and catering are second to none at any show.

Beagle Junior (2) 1. Binks & Stewart’s Dughallmor I Am Legend. 9mth tri dog. Maturing nicely. Pleasing head with dark eye and pigment. Well set ears. Good depth of chest, excellent bone and muscling. Straight forelegs and tight feet. Powerful movement with plenty of drive. Rock steady topline. BOB and delighted to see him finish G4. 2. Matthew’s Carvaha Fire N Ice. Pretty, feminine 7mth tri bitch. Good head with nice expression, dark eye & well set ears. Good bone. Moved well but not quite the drive of 1.

Beagle PG (1,1a)

Beagle Open (5, 3a) 1. Stevenson-Bramley’s Fallowfield Sunshine Sweetheart. 18mth bitch with feminine head and soft expression. Lovely dark eye. Good chest with plenty of fill, good bone and neat feet. Short loin, well balanced angulation. Moved with a good straight action. 2. Matthew’s Carvaha Sabatini. 3yr old bitch. Heavier type to 1. Well balance angles front and rear, well muscled, good movement.

Whippet Junior (4, 2a) 1. Downing-Christie and Christie’s Orange Crush Des Plaines Des Bruyeres (Imp Fra) 11mth red brindle dog. Maturing nicely and well developed. Appealing head and expression. Dark eye and pigment, neat small ears. Excellent depth of chest with plenty of front fill. Well arched, feet. Moved well coming and going. 2. Sinclair’s Zigouse Out Among The Stars At Gothikland. 8mth bitch. Feminine, with pretty head, lovely dark eye and pigment. Still very young, but shows lots of promise. Will look forward to seeing her mature. 3. Grant’s Copperfire Steel Magnolia.

Whippet PG (7, 2a) 1. Downing-Christie and Christie’s Zigouse Caught By The Wind. 18mth brindle bitch. Very feminine. Super head with lovely expression. Dark eye & pigment. Long, flowing neck into well laid back shoulders. Good depth of chest leading to nice tuck up. Plenty of front fill. Straight forelegs, with good bone and excellent feet. Well muscled and balanced angles throughout. Lovely movement. Delighted to award her BOB. 2. Putman and Crighton’s Laragain Linnet. 2yr brindle bitch. Very close to 1. Lovely feminine head with dark eye and pigment. Excellent depth of chest and front fill. Defined tuck up. Super topline held on move. Moved well although slightly wide behind. 3. Third’s Stormalong Selkie at Bruntsfield.

Whippet Open (7, 3a) 1. Third’s Tango Time of Bruntsfield. 7yr fawn bitch. Hard to believe she is a veteran. Very feminine with pleasing head. Lovely dark eye and pigment. Good depth to chest and nice tuck up. Well muscled throughout. Moved with ease with good topline. 2. Wilson and Ballatyne’s Speymalt Aurora Solstice. Larger type than 1. Pleasing head with kind expression. Well muscled throughout. Excellent forequarters with good deep chest and good feet. Lovely, true movement with good topline. 3. Sinclair’s Froal Kolacube.

Saluki PG (0)

Saluki Open (4, 2a) 1. Phillip’s Vidana Amira. 4yr black/cream bitch. Very feminine bitch with a super outline and flowing lines. Lovely head with the darkest of eyes and pigment. Ears well set with good fringes. Strong, long neck flowing into well laid back shoulders. Excellent forequarters and feet. Good depth of chest leading to well defined tuck up. Super condition throughout, strong loin, balanced angles front and rear. Her movement is light and effortless, floating around the ring with a solid topline. BOB and delighted to see her take G3. 2. Elliot-Ross’ Gorewater Roshanak. 4yr bitch. Lovely head and expression. Good depth of chest with defined tuck up. Well muscled throughout. Feet could be neater. Moved straight and true with good topline.

Deerhound PG (4, 2a) 1. Swanson’s Altimarlach Archangel. Mature 15mth bitch. Feminine head with good flat skull, dark eye and pigment. Small ears. Excellent depth of chest. Forelegs straight with good bone and excellent feet. Well muscled throughout with strong loin and balanced angles front and rear. Moved well with an easy stride. 2. Lindsay’s Albagrey Loch Maree At Silverthyme. 9mth bitch. Feminine head, very alert, uses her ears well. Excellent muscling and rear angulation. Still very much a puppy with lots of maturing to do, but much to like.

Deerhound Open (5, 2a) 1. Swanson’s Cotherstone Dallas Dhu of Altimarlach. 2yr male with much to like. He has matured beautifully since I last judged him. Lovely head with dark eye, super expression, and whiskers. His neck is strong, shoulders well laid back. His forequarters are excellent with super bone and compact feet. Great depth of chest, strong loin. He is well muscled thoughout, in hardy condition. He moved effortlessly round the ring with such an easy stride. Delighted to award him BOB and watch him take G2. 2. Swanson’s Cotherstone Brogue of Altimarlach. 7yr bitch. Hardly showing her age. Pleasing head with good eye and pigment Excellent forequarters with straight legs, good bone and feet. Moved with ease. 3. Smart’s Kessoch Marsco of Greystiel.

Borzoi PG (1,0) 1. Swanson’s Dashava Moscow of Altimarlach. 2yr dog. Pleasing head of good proportions. Dark eye and pigment. Coat in excellent condition. Well muscled throughout with good rear angulations. Would like feet to have been neater. Moved OK.

Borzoi Open (2, 1a) 1. Swanson’s Nibrass Royal Blend Among Altimarlach. 5yr dog. Lovely outline. Fine head with good dark eye. Good straight forequarters and feet. Good depth to chest, flowing back, good rear angulation. Moved well with a spring in his step. BOB

Dachshund Long Haired PG (2,0) 1. Paskins’ Bronia Final Kiss at Kindeace. 16mth Black/Tan bitch. Such a pretty, happy girl. Very feminine head and expression, with dark eye. She is in super condition throughout. Excellent bone and feet, super depth of chest and front fill. She moved beautifully round the ring with purpose and a solid topline. 2. Paskins’ Kindeace Scarlett O’Hara. Another super bitch shown in fabulous condition. Pleasing head, dark eye and expression. She has balanced angles front and rear. Moved straight and true with plenty of drive.

Dachshund Long Haired Open (3,0) 1. Paskins’ Abydachs Summer Dream at Kindeace ShCM. 9yr old bitch not looking anywhere near her age. She is in such superb condition with strong muscling throughout. Feminine head with a fabulous expression. Great depth of chest, good bone, neat feet. She powered round the ring with drive and attitude. Delighted to award her BOB. 2. Paskins’ Cedavoch It’s Taboo at Kindeace. 23mth dog. Another super dog at this kennel. He has a lovely head, excellent muzzle, super dark eyes and expression. Good depth of chest with plenty of front fill. Excellent feet. Slightly longer in body than 1. Moves straight and true. 3. Paskins’ Territoriya Lubvi Vesna at Kindeace.
