Carlisle & District Canine Society

GOLDEN RETRIEVERS

Judge: Paulina O’Gorman – Berrymeade

Many thanks to the Committee of Carlisle & District Canine Society for inviting me to judge at their show this year and of course to all Exhibitors who entered their dogs. I very much enjoyed the friendly atmosphere at this show, well done to the Committee and many thanks to my super Steward who kept the ring so well organised.

What a super class full of quality and I was indeed splitting hairs! It may sound so cliché but those puppies could have easily swapped places at any other time!

1. Dickson’s Tonara Penny Lane At Glynafton

Super outline of this 9 months old bitch, showing no exaggeration. Lovely feminine head and sweet expression, excellent pigment. Balanced throughout, good front and rear angles with good length of leg. On the move she presented super reach and drive. Good tail carriage and level topline which she maintained on the move. Super presence in the ring and she possessed that little spark, which really caught my eye. She surely will have a bright future in the ring. BP

2. Clarkson’s Drumkilty On Impulse Similar remarks as one apply to this lovely girl, another quality puppy in this class and as it turns out a half-sister to the winner. Very balanced with a feminine head. Super angles, good bone and tight feet. She has everything in the right place for her age and she’s a level mover with super reach and drive, but the day I just preferred how the winner presented herself. A very promising puppy.

3. Mrs & Mrs Bell’s Hoaaloha Maui

1. Mr & Mrs Bolton’s Dantassie Golden Gun For Shiresmill 11 months old dog in mid gold coat. Lovely, masculine, well-proportioned head, good pigment, good reach of neck. Straight front, good forechest, level topline and well sprung ribs, good length of leg, his hocks are well let down. Presented in good coat, he moved out well presenting excellent reach and drive.

2. Shepherd’s Parlickview Maggie May One I judged before and I can see she has matured since. She is just right for her age and getting better with time. Very balanced with good angles, good forechest and good length of leg. Another super mover, very powerful and so at one with her handler.

3. Towers’ and Henderson’s Carnaval Dorado Pirate Soul (Imp Esp)

1. Beck’s Happier De Ria Vela (Imp Esp) I liked this boy a lot, such a happy personality, what a pleasure to watch. A lovely outline without exaggeration, a very well ‘made’ throughout. Lovely, masculine head with sweet expression, correct bite, good front and rear angulation, super bone, round feet, deep in chest and short coupled. Tail well set and firm topline which he held on the move. A level, sound mover. One that catches your eye the moment he enters the ring. I was very pleased to award him BOB.

2. Mr & Mrs Bolton’s Dantassie Golden Gun For Shiresmill

3. Shepherd’s Parlickview Maggie May

1. Shepherd’s Parlickview Maggie May

2. Towers’s and Henderson’s Carnaval Dorado Pirate Soul (Imp Esp) Another youngster in this class, presented in glowing coat. Masculine head with a soft expression, super forechest, good bone and cat-like feet. Strght in front and rear, well angulated. Short couple with ribs well sprung, I would however prefer a better set on of tail. He moved out well.

3. Mr Douglas’ & Mrs McGuffie’s Milltimber Moonriver

OD/B (6 1)

1. Towers’ & Henderson’s Alibren Galileo To Westervane JW A 3-year-old, beautifully balanced, paler dog with a lovely head and expression and good reach of neck. Straight front and rear, excellent bone, good length of leg, good fore and rear angulations, super topline. So well-constructed and it shows in his movement - powerful and free. Another one I really liked, RBOB.

2. Mr & Mrs Bolton’s Stanroph Superstravegante At Shiresmill (Imp Esp) JW I watched this boy from a ringside and liked him a lot. Beautiful, soft expression on his masculine head. Super length of neck, well angulated in front and rear, straight front and rear. Presented in excellent coat and condition, moved out well but was unfortunate to meet the winner today.

3. Shepherd’s Parlickview Maggie May
